What is Parasite Patrol?

Parasite Patrol is a workshop designed to give sheep and goat producers a deeper understanding of what is happening inside their animals and how to respond effectively.

Workshop participants walk through the life cycle of gastrointestinal nematodes, building critical awareness of when animals are most at risk, and explore how anthelmintic resistance develops and why many operations are seeing reduced dewormer effectiveness.

Fecal Egg Counting

A central component of the Parasite Patrol workshop is fecal egg counting, where participants will learn how to properly collect, handle, and interpret samples. These skills allow producers to move from routine, calendar-based deworming to targeted, data-driven treatment decisions, an approach that can significantly extend the effectiveness of available dewormers and improve long-term flock and herd performance.

What is Parasite Patrol Plus?

At selected workshop locations, an expanded training opportunity, Parasite Patrol Plus (PP+) with FAMACHA certification, will be offered. These sessions include official FAMACHA training and certification held in conjunction with the Parasite Patrol workshop, equipping participants with another proven tool for making strategic treatment decisions.
